Author Guidelines

Interdepartmental Thematic Scientific Collection of Plant Protection and Quarantine accepts for publication original articles on materials of scientific research on the protection of plants from pests, diseases and weeds.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that published articles are in the public domain.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

Submit the article to the editorial board along with a letter of referral from the institution where the author works, a review, a license agreement (agreement to download here) and information about the authors.

Each of the co-authors signs a licensing agreement on the transfer of copyright of the journal (there are so many agreements in the article as there are so many authors).  The contract comes into force only after the article is accepted for publication.  Manuscripts are not considered without contracts.

Information about the authors: surname, name, patronymic (in full) of each author, positions, academic degrees and titles, place of work and organization mailing address for all authors in Ukrainian, Russian and English, e-mail, ORCID ID code of each author.  If the author is not registered in ORCID, you need to create an account at http://orcid.org.

It should be noted the author for correspondence, indicating his contact (business and mobile) phone.

Manuscripts are reviewed and recommended for publication by the editorial board.  When communicating with the reviewer in a cover letter, you should respond in detail to the comments of the reviewer, and in the electronic version of the article, indicate corrections in color.

The editors reserve the right to introduce changes and abbreviations in the text.

Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements of the Rules for Authors are not accepted by the editors.

MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS

The manuscript should be submitted in 2 copies together with the electronic version (on disks or to the journal’s email address (hidden). Printing at 1.5 intervals, font size - 12. Desired typeface - Times. Put paragraphs in the manuscript using only the Enter key in the text, incl.  in the list of references, do not use automatic numbering in Word for numbering.

To ensure that the author’s surname and initials (also - page C. or page designation. And number; No. and number) remain on the same line and do not break, use the combination Shift + Ctrl + Space (inextricable space).

The following manuscript structure is recommended:

  • UDC.
  • Title of the article (typed with a capital letter).
  • Initials, surname, academic degree or position (without reduction) of the author (s).
  • The full official name and mailing address of the institution where the authors work.

References to sources should be made in square brackets in the order of mention in the text.

Literature.  The list of references should be formed in the order of mentioning sources in the text.  List only those works that are mentioned in the article.  It is desirable to cite sources published during the last 10 years (if it is not regulated by the terms of the submitted work), of which at least 4 - for the last 5 years.  References to abstracts of dissertations, monographs, materials of congresses and conferences, official materials (DSTU) should be avoided.  Links to sources on the Internet should be available.  If the article has a digital object identifier (DOI), it should be specified.  The number of references to their works is allowed no more than 5%.  You need to make two lists

The first article list (Bibliographic list) should be drawn up in the original language in accordance with DSTU 8302: 2015. See Sample 1.

The second list of references (References).  submit in Latin, APA style in accordance with the requirements of world abstract databases.  See Sample 2.  It is necessary to transliterate the Ukrainian (Russian) alphabet into Latin in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of January 27, 2010 №55.  To transliterate the Cyrillic alphabet into Latin from the Ukrainian language, you should choose the Passport standard (CMU 2010), from Russian - the BGN standard.

TABLE WRITING REQUIREMENTS

  1. Tables are one of the most convenient and visual forms of presentation of the material, they complement the text. But they should not be repeated in detail in the text.
  2. Make tables in Word, put manuscripts in appropriate places, including in the general pagination.
  3. Each table should have a serial number and a short clear name (if there is one table in the work, it is numbered).
  4. By their structure, tables should be simple and convenient to use. Bulky tables should be avoided.  The construction of tables with the placement of material in one row is unacceptable.  Multi-storey table headers are undesirable.
  5. tables of the same type are built in the same way (non-compliance with this rule makes it difficult to compare the data given in them).
  6. The main headings and independent names in the header and side of the table should be capitalized, and the subordinates placed below the text, which unites them, should be capitalized. A colon is put in the sidebar after the generalizing word, and the words are subordinate, written with a small letter, stepping back a few characters to the right of the beginning of the generalizing word.
  7. If there is no data in any of the columns of the table, then they put an ellipsis instead or write: “No data” or put a dash. It is not recommended to leave the columns blank.
  8. Units of measure are given without the pretext “in” (“y”) separated by commas. For example, productivity, t / ha;  length, m
  9. If the units of measurement are not abbreviated, they are also given with a comma in the nominative case of the plural. Example: Age of a tree, years.  Observation period, days, not: Age of trees (in years).  Observation period (in days).
  10. All words of the table are written in full, except for the accepted abbreviations.
  11. The text and digital material of the tables should be printed at two intervals, the heading at one.
  12. Notes and footnotes to tables should be printed directly below the table.

REQUIREMENTS OF ILLUSTRATIVE MATERIAL

  1. Illustrative material (photographs, graphs, charts, diagrams, etc.) is contained only if they complement the text material.
  2. Graphs, charts, diagrams must be clearly executed in the program, which allows editorial amendments to be made if necessary.
  3. Build graphs with a coordinate grid, be sure to indicate the abscissa and ordinate axis with short and clear inscriptions. Dimensions are separated from inscriptions or lettering by a comma.
  4. An explanation of the positions with the graphs, as well as to the individual parts of the figures or diagrams, is taken out in subtexts. In the figures, only the corresponding numeric or letter designations are left.
  5. The numbering of positions in the figures should be done in order in a clockwise direction.
  6. All figures should be referenced in the text.
  7. The contents of the figures should be disclosed in subtexts, which explain all the digital and letter designations (positions).

SIGNS, SYMBOLS AND NUMBERS IN THE TEXT

  1. Mathematical signs are used with the symbols used in variation statistics (P> 0.1; M ±), in the formulas and tables with numbers. In the text they are written in words.  It is impossible, for example, to write: the temperature was> 18 ° C;  pH = 6.7.  That's right: the temperature was more than 18 ° C, the pH was 6.7.  The exceptions are plus (+) and minus (-) signs with numbers.  For example, the temperature changed from +10 to – 20 °.
  2. The use of symbols and conventions instead of the corresponding terms is not allowed. For example, T rose instead of the correct one - the temperature rose.
  3. Signs °, №,%, § etc. in the text put only with numbers.  In other cases, they are written in words.  For example, the parcel number, not the parcel №.  The signs №,%,>, § for the notation of a set are not doubled.  For example, write № 1, 2, and not №№ 1 and 2 or № 1 and No. 2.
  4. All numbers with units in industrial and scientific literature are written in numbers. For example, it’s 5 meters long, not five meters long.  Units of measurement (degree in temperature or angle, angular second, angular minute - 29'24 ", percent, etc.) are indicated by the symbols (°, ',",%) without space between the number and the symbol.
  5. Numbers up to ten inclusive without units are recommended to be written in the text in words (for example, in three sections, in ten animals), and more than ten in numbers (for example, in 12 farms).
  6. Ordinal numerals, indicated in Arabic numerals, are written with case accruals. For example: 1st section, 2nd line.  Ordinal numerals, indicated by Roman numerals, write without accrued.  For example, group I, period III.
  7. When writing dates, put a period after the number, then the month in Arabic numerals and the year. For example, 12.15.1984.
  8. The winter period, the financial and academic years are written through an oblique line, reducing the last year by the first two digits and using the words “year” (p.) In the singular. For example, in the winter of 1985/86
  9. To indicate the period between years put a dash, the numbers are not abbreviated, and the word "year" is written in the plural abbreviated. For example, in 1985-1986 pp.
  10. The time of day is shown in three ways without reductions (5:00 50 minutes), only in numbers through a point (5.50) or with an increase (at 5 hours 50 minutes).

REDUCTION

In the article, all words, as a rule, should be written in full.  The following abbreviations are allowed.

Single words:

  • tab. (Table), Fig.  (Figure) - when referring to the text in parentheses, for example, (Table 1), (Figure 5);
  • and so on. D. (And so on), and so on. P. (etc.) and others (And others) - at the end of the sentence after the list;
  • yr. (Year)

Special terms:

ED (unit of action);  Efficiency (coefficient of performance), etc.

Scientific titles and degrees, professions: Acad. (Academician), prof.  (Professor), Assoc.  (Associate Professor), Ph.D.  (Candidate), Dr. (Doctor), Corr.  (Corresponding Member).

At the first mention of little-known abbreviations of special terms or names of scientific institutions it is necessary to completely decipher them.
